To prevent your number from being banned on WhatsApp, it simply means you have to know exactly what actions could lead to Whatsapp into banning your phone number.
Below are some of the reasons why WhatsApp could ban your account:

1- Sharing scam messages: If you try to scam people, and then they report your number to Whatsapp, WhatsApp will review their complain and if you are found guilty, it could be the last time you use that number on WhatsApp.
2- Adding people randomly into groups: When ever you are adding some one into your WhatsApp group, make sure that the person is some one you are in a mutual contact list to each other, else the safest thing to do is to send them the group link so that the would join at their own will.
Adding random people into WhatsApp group might lead to banning your account, especially if they suspect your are trying to scam them and they report you to Whatsapp.

3- Sending random messages to people that are not in your contact list.

4- Using pirated WhatsApp copy: there are some versions of WhatsApp that are not originally from META, like GB, Yo, etc. Using this kind of Whatsapp versions could also lead to Whatsapp banning Your account. If you're using any of such type of accounts, I advise you to stop today!

Remember that WHATSAPP will not warn you before they ban your account.
